Criminal Cases in the Forest County Courts
Forest County belongs to Pennsylvania's 37th Judicial District with Warren County. The Forest County Court of Common Pleas hears felony and misdemeanor prosecutions after they are transferred from the lower court, along with summary appeals and criminal miscellaneous matters. The county's Magisterial District Court starts criminal complaints, holds preliminary arraignments and hearings, addresses bail at the first stage, and decides summary, traffic, and non-traffic matters. Pennsylvania has no separate municipal court in Tionesta and no county misdemeanor court between those two levels.

Search Both Forest County Courts
A common search mistake is choosing only Common Pleas. A new complaint may appear solely on the Magisterial District docket before a preliminary hearing. If the charge is held for court or the hearing is waived, a new Common Pleas docket follows. Search both court types when the stage is not known, and compare the originating district case, offense date, arresting agency, and OTN.

What the Case File Shows
A public docket identifies the prosecution and summarizes what happened. Stages of a Criminal Case
A Forest County criminal complaint is filed at the Magisterial District Court. Preliminary arraignment addresses the charge and initial bail. At a preliminary hearing, the prosecution must meet the limited standard needed to send a charge onward, or the hearing may be waived. There is no single fixed time for that full path in the Forest County research. Scheduling, motions, continuances, plea talks, and trial needs can alter it. Read the event rows and current case status instead of estimating an outcome from the filing date.
Forest County Court Outcome Terms
“Held for court” does not mean convicted. It means the lower court found enough basis for a charge to proceed, or the defendant waived that hearing. “Withdrawn” means the prosecution removed a charge. “Dismissed” means the court ended that count at that stage. “Nolle prossed” means the prosecutor formally chose not to continue it. “Not guilty” is an acquittal. A guilty plea or verdict is a conviction, but the final sentence may appear in a later entry.

Access & Restrictions
Pennsylvania public access does not place every Forest County record online. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, pending-expungement, destroyed, and Clean Slate limited-access matters are excluded from public docket search. Sensitive details can be redacted even when the rest of a case remains open. A blank result may also reflect a spelling issue, date filter, recent entry lag, an older paper file, or a complaint that never advanced to the searched court.

Federal Cases Outside Forest County Courts
A federal prosecution is not filed in the Forest County docket. Forest County lies within the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and federal dockets are searched through PACER. Registration is required. PACER uses the judiciary's current fee policy, including the published quarterly waiver when charges total $30 or less. Some federal filings remain restricted, and Forest County has no federal courthouse of its own.
